£20.00
Killyliss Studio had handmade this attractive gift to commemorate the classic Irish folk song The Fields Of Athenry.
This popular Irish folksong was written by Pete St. john in the 1970`s.
The story of this ballad is based on a man called Michael from Athenry, County Galway, who was sentenced to deportation to Botany Bay, Australia, for stealing food to feed his starving family during the great Irish famine 1845 - 1850.
This song has now been adopted by the supporters of Repubic of Ireland and Glasgow Celtic soccer teams , as well as the Irish Rubgy Union , Munster Rugby, Connaught Rugby and the London Irish Rugby supporters alike.
Colm Mc Cann of Killyliss Studio had handcarved and coldcast in brass. this claddagh emblem and the accompanying inscription .
This handmade design is then carefully mounted onto a wall hanging slate plaque 150 mm x 125mm in size.
This gift is perfect for anyone with Galway ancestry or any Irish soccer or rugby fan worldwide.
