The St. Brigid`s Cross is part of the folk custom of Ireland. For hundreds of years the Irish have made rush crosses by hand. These are made for St. Brigids feast day ,1st February. The St. Brigids Cross is an iconic symbol in Ireland.
There are a number of theories as to who Saint Brigid was.
One states that she was of noble stock from County Kildare.
But another theory is that she is the Christian manifestation of mother earth as worshiped by the earlier pagan Druids.
The St. Brigids Cross design is coldcast in brass then mounted onto a slate plaque,125mm x 125mm in size. This plaque is very popular as a religious gift.
